These terms govern your use of Promise Yourself ("the app"). By installing or using the app, you agree to them.
The short version: the app is free, made available as-is, runs on your device, and is meant for your personal use.
1. License
Promise Yourself is provided to you under a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on iOS devices you own or control. You may not:
- Copy, modify, reverse engineer, or distribute the app or any portion of it.
- Use the app for any commercial purpose without prior written permission from us.
- Use the app in a way that violates any law or any third-party rights.
2. Your content
Anything you create in the app — promises, notes, reflections, photos, videos — is yours. We never claim ownership of your content and we never see it (see the Privacy Policy: everything stays on your device).
If you choose to upload a rendered video to YouTube via the optional connection, your upload is governed by YouTube's own terms. We facilitate the upload; we don't host the video.
3. No warranty
The app is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that:
- The app will be uninterrupted or error-free.
- Defects in the app will be corrected.
- The app is free from viruses or other harmful components.
You assume all risk for your use of the app. Promise Yourself is not a substitute for medical, mental-health, fitness, or other professional advice.
4. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the app.
5. Updates
We may release updates to the app from time to time. Updates may add, change, or remove features. We are not obligated to maintain backwards compatibility for app data formats, but we will make a reasonable effort to preserve user data across updates.
6. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it from your device. Deleting the app permanently removes the data stored in the app's sandbox.
We reserve the right to discontinue the app, or to make it unavailable in certain regions, at any time.
7. Changes to these terms
If we materially change these terms, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
